DJ Paula frost is an accomplished DJ, drummer & music journalist. She has worked in music for over 12 years and has had an exhilerating journey. here’s aN overview.

DJ

DJ Paula Frost started out as a producer on Kane FM radio in Guildford working with the Boom and Bass Crew and Tippa Irie’s Pure Riddim Show. Soon she began DJing on her own show, Way Out Radio, and started playing live across the UK.

Paula released her debut EP 'Orbit' in 2020 to high critical acclaim and received radio play across the world. Dev from IDLES said the single 'Oxygen Tank' was 'a banger' and Crass’ Steve Ignorant supported and shared it. Sleaford Mods also shared her next single, a mash up of Sex Pistols’ - ‘Pretty Vacant’ with Ramones - ‘Blitzkrieg Bop’.

Paula has DJ’ed across 16 countries worldwide including shows in Croatia and New Zealand as well as tours in Japan, Vietnam and Cambodia. Whilst in Vietnam she headlined Reggae Beach Festival in Da Nang. Paula spent lockdown writing a book about her travels called 'DIY DJ'. She’s since made a comback to the live scene with over 50 UK shows including NEC Birmingham, Kendall Calling Festival, Camden Roundhouse and she also flew to Italy for a show with Los Fastidios.

Drummer

As a drummer, Paula has performed at venues all over the UK including Hard Rock Cafe, 100 Club, Electric Theatre Guildford and sold out shows at Ramsgate Music Hall. Paula’s recorded two EPs and two LPs in various bands. She’s played for bands signed to Damaged Goods Records, Hall Or Nothing Management, C3U Records and more. Paula has also flown to Amsterdam to perform and Barcelona to record an album with garage rock legend Mike Maraconda. One group won BBC Kent’s record of the week and was interviewed on radio. Paula's also won multiple Battle of The Bands in various groups.

Paula has a drum diploma with distinction from the Academy of Contemporary Music and a Commercial Music Ba Hons Degree from Canterbury Christchurch University.

Journalist

In the music industry Paula interned at Beggars Group, Rough Trade Records and NME Magazine. She was named as a contributor on the opening page of the NME Oasis Collectors Edition and also wrote various website news pieces. Paula was reviews editor and contributor to the editorial team at Vive Le Rock Magazine, Louder Than War Magazine and Down For Life Magazine. She wrote cover features for Supergrass, Crass and The Ruts and also helped organise the Vive Le Rock Awards. Paula has interviewed a range of musicians from bands including The Wailers, The Smiths, The Sex Pistols, NoFX, The Ruts and Conflict, plus many more. She has reported on festivals including Boomtown, Rebellion, Reading & Leeds, Great British Alternative and Rockaway Beach. Paula’s own website and blog Way Out Radio has gone from strength to strength over the past ten years with many active subscribers an supporters.
